New License
In the UAE, possessing a valid healthcare professional license is essential for anyone wishing to work in the healthcare sector. The requirements to obtain a license depend on the specific profession and role, covering a range of fields such as physicians, dentists, nurses, midwives, and allied health practitioners.All regulatory authorities across the UAE—namely the Department of Health (DoH), Dubai Health Authority (DHA), and Ministry of Health (MoH)—adhere to the same Unified Healthcare Professional Qualification Standards. However, each authority issues licenses specific to the emirate where the professional intends to practice.
For Physicians:
Applicants must hold a degree from an accredited medical school, such as an MBBS, MBChB, or an equivalent qualification. Additionally, they must have successfully completed an internship program and acquired a minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience.
For Nurses:
To apply for a professional nursing license as a Registered Nurse, School Nurse, Practical Nurse, or Assistant Nurse with DHA, DOH, or MoH:
- If you hold a diploma and have one (1) year of experience, you are eligible for a license as a Practical Nurse or Assistant Nurse.
- If you possess a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSc Nursing) and have two (2) years of experience, you qualify for licensure as a Registered Nurse or School Nurse.
DOH License:
DOH is the Department of health Abu Dhabi; this is the primary health body in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, every healthcare professional looking to work in Abu Dhabi region required to obtain DOH license.
DHA License:
The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) is the main regulatory body overseeing healthcare in the Emirate of Dubai. In addition to the standard DHA license, there are also free zone healthcare licenses available, such as those for Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC). Any healthcare professional intending to work in Dubai must secure a DHA license.
MOH License:
MOH is known as ministry of health which is the body regulates all the healthcare sector in the emirates of Sharjah, , Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman, Fujairah & Umm Al Quwain. every healthcare professional work in these regions need requires MOH license.
